The Fifth Toy Story Film Trailer Sets The Beloved Duo Against a Digital Device
Exactly 30 years after the first Toy Story movie was released, launching Pixar as a major film company and introducing viewers to beloved figures like Woody (Tom Hanks) and the space ranger (the voice talent), who are now famous worldwide.
In 2026, the next chapter is scheduled for release. The first teaser trailer for Toy Story 5 landed this week, providing a glimpse into the plot but keeping viewers wondering how it will address the ending of Toy Story 4.
The Latest Addition: A Digital Device Spooks the Gang
The preview shows Bonnie — who received Andy's toys when he left for college — receiving a brand new toy, one that alarms Woody, Buzz, and the crew. Bonnie acquires her first tablet computer, and she is excited about it.
Theoretically, the amphibian-inspired device will animate just like the rest of her playthings. Still, the toys seem to view it as a threat intending to supplant them, which it likely will.
The Cowboy's Comeback: Unanswered Questions from Toy Story 4
One thing the teaser avoids is why the sheriff is returned with his friends in Bonnie's room. The end of Toy Story 4 depicted him embark on a fresh journey with Bo Peep (the actress), traveling with a carnival and assisting prize toys locate loving owners.
Certainly, Pixar will address the aftermath of Toy Story 4 in the film. Witnessing him appear in Bonnie's room unexpectedly is somewhat puzzling, however. It also raises questions whether Bo Peep will have come back with him. And what about Duke Caboom (the star)?
Continuity from the Last Installment
At the very least, some aspects are carrying over from the prior film. The last thing Woody did before setting off for his new life was hand over his sheriff badge to the cowgirl (the voice actor), leaving her as the leader of Bonnie's bedroom. The clip shows the insignia attached to her outfit.
Hopefully she is remains the driving force among the toys.
